President Ilham Aliyev made a working visit on July 11, 2026, to the liberated Guzeykhirman and Guneykhirman villages of the Khojavend district in Karabakh, where he reviewed reconstruction efforts and opened a new hotel.
During the visit, the president was briefed on restoration works underway in the two villages. The projects include gas, water, electricity and fiber-optic lines, along with a renovated 460-seat school and a 40-seat kindergarten intended to support returning families.
An initial 21 families, totaling 87 people, had returned to the villages. Their return marks an early stage in the broader resettlement of a region that was reconnected to basic services as part of the reconstruction drive.
On the same trip, Aliyev attended the opening of the newly built Khankendi Hotel. The four-story property has 101 rooms and a capacity of up to about 236 guests.
The hotel employs 45 staff, including 20 local residents, reflecting an effort to create jobs alongside physical reconstruction. Facilities such as the hotel are meant to support economic activity and visitors as life gradually resumes in the area.
On July 12, the president shared a video on social media with the remark that seeing the development in Karabakh and East Zangezur makes his heart rejoice. The comment came a day after the on-the-ground visit to Khojavend district.
The visit was reported by outlets including APA, AzerNews, Today.az and Axar.az, as part of continued coverage of reconstruction across the liberated territories.
