Colombian superstar Karol G closed out the 2026 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival on Sunday night, becoming the first Latina artist ever to headline the Indio, California festival and announcing a world tour in support of her fourth studio album, "Tropicoqueta."
Karol G took the Coachella main stage at 10:10 pm PT on Sunday, April 19, Timeout LA reported, capping the second and final weekend of the festival at the Empire Polo Club. Her ascent to a Coachella headline slot makes her the first Latina artist to hold the honor, a milestone the festival has moved toward over the past several editions but only formalized this year.
Across the two weekends of the 2026 edition, which ran April 10-19, Sabrina Carpenter, Justin Bieber and Karol G split the three headline slots. Billboard subsequently reported a Coachella chart bump for all three on its Billboard 200 chart.
During her Weekend 2 closer, Karol G brought out J Balvin, Peso Pluma, Becky G and Ryan Castro as surprise guests, turning the set into a wide-ranging showcase of contemporary Latin pop and reggaeton, Rolling Stone and Complex reported. Each guest joined for a cameo before Karol G returned to her own catalog.
Midway through the set, Karol G used the Coachella stage to announce a global tour in support of "Tropicoqueta," her fourth studio album, per Rolling Stone. Dates for the tour were teased during the show, with formal routing expected to follow.
For Coachella, which has increasingly leaned into pop and global-music programming, the Karol G close punctuates a festival cycle that drew praise for the diversity of its headline bookings and underscored the mainstreaming of Latin music at the largest Western festivals.
