Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva arrived in Türkiye on April 16 at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to participate in the 5th Antalya Diplomacy Forum, which runs April 17-19.
The forum's theme this year is "Mapping Tomorrow, Managing Uncertainties." Aliyev is expected to take part in plenary sessions and hold bilateral meetings on the sidelines, including with Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa, as both countries explore broader regional cooperation.
On arrival, Aliyev sent a letter of condolence to Erdoğan over an armed attack on a school in Kahramanmaraş. The gesture underscored the depth of Azerbaijani-Turkish ties, which Aliyev has described as a "one nation, two states" relationship.
The forum brings together leaders from more than 150 countries, including over 20 heads of state and 50 ministers. For Azerbaijan, the gathering offers a platform to push its energy connectivity agenda and to discuss the still-pending peace treaty with Armenia in informal venues.
